Tucker Neighborhood Strategic Plan

After DeKalb County updated its Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 1996, various neighborhood leaders, citizens and civic associations began holding hearings on how the future needs of the Tucker Community would be served in relation to the plan for the whole county. These studies resulted in a document known as the “Tucker Neighborhood Strategic Plan”, adopted by Tucker Civic Association on July 10, 2000. The general recommendation section of both plans provides that they should be a living document -- to be updated and remain current. It is in this context that the plan was reviewed by the Proactive Planning and Economic Development Committee of Tucker Civic Association beginning May 8, 2003. The current version of the Tucker Neighborhood Strategic Plan was approved by TCA's membership on February 23, 2004. Section 1 of this document analyzes specific goals and policies from the DeKalb County Comprehensive Plan and applies them to the Tucker Community. Section 2 articulates strategic recommendations for planning in the Tucker area.
